Calgary's LEAD certificate program challenges youth to become community leaders
If you're a parent of a young person living in Calgary, there's a good chance you've heard about the LEAD certificate program. Offered through the Calgary Foundation, LEAD is a 12-month challenge that encourages youth to become community leaders. The program has been around for over 10 years, and it's proven to be an effective way to develop leadership skills in young people.
The LEAD program is a leadership certification program offered by The City of Calgary. Youth who participate in the program will learn valuable leadership skills that they can use in their careers and in their communities. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to earn credibility and recognition from their peers and from community leaders. The program requires participants to complete 20 hours of practicum experience, which will give them a chance to put their leadership skills into practice in a hands-on setting. The program is offered at various locations across Calgary, including the North East community center. Pre-registration is required for all participants.
